Digital Filmmaking – Joyene Nazatul Ismail
To Mum (Love, Me)
Nancy and Joan seem to have a typical mother-daughter relationship. But when a long closeted part of Joan comes out into the open, the two women have to rethink their relationship and convictions, as they struggle to find themselves and each other amidst societal norms and expectations.
A glimpse into the mind of a father, who fears that the close relationship he shares with his daughter, will grow distant as she grows older.
Post Production Supervisor
Joyene has always had an interest in stories from a young age, eagerly telling them to keen listeners. Her love for stories evolved into a love for theatre and subsequently, a love for filmmaking. Producing, directing and writing her own short film has been the hardest, yet most rewarding thing she’s ever done in her short career as a filmmaker. As someone who has always been a writer, Joyene draws inspiration from her own life, as well as those of the people around her.
On top of pursuing a career in filmmaking, Joyene is also an avid sportswoman. She is currently part of the Singapore National Hockey team, training for the SEA Games 2015.
