Unlike usual “save-our-environment” messages, this animation will showcase how trivial and obscure things, that might never come to our attention, actually have a negative impact on our environment.

In ‘NURTURE NATURE, ten harmful man-made acts to nature are portrayed in the most humorous way possible. The film uses manmade assets as signifiers for humankind and employs plenty of “everyday-objects” to present our intimate relationship with nature. Each scene (act) is distinctive on its own but not isolated. They form a loop of destructive acts – the seemingly inescapable chaos – where resolution lies within the viewer’s perception.

About

Alice is a Singapore-based animator and storyboard artist. She is adept at both traditional and new media mediums, including watercolour, digital, oil painting, hand drawn, and 3D modelling. As a kid, she had a penchant for drawing things out of random textures like floor tiles, using her imagination. The 2D-style, French and Japanese cartoons (Hayao Miyazaki) inspire her strongly in terms of storytelling. Alice wishes to create ‘true’ animations. For her, animation or drawing in general should have connotations to touch the masses; and that can only be found through depth and not just skimming the surface.
