Experience the perspective of darkness as she negotiates her space and place among the luminaries.

Consisting of Ether references the sublime – a greatness beyond all possibility of calculation, measurement, or imitation. According to Kant, the sublime is the actuality of the noumena as opposed to the phenomenal. This project, using intangible light, seeks to create an experience that translates to the sublime.

This project began with the investigation of the idea of the noumena. Grappling with the paradox of a thing existing in actuality yet not existing in isolation. It oscillates between reality and perception.

About

Joseph is a light installation artist who uses laser light and luminaries to create an ethereal environment. He takes interest in investigating the theatrical aspect of installations by manipulating space and light. His works are inspired by minimal light installation artists like Ólafur Elíasson, James Turrell and Anthony McCall.
