Project Description

Time is a human construct, something that we came up with to make sense of the myriad experiences we perceive with our senses by giving them continuity and linearity. But this restricts our imagination and limits our ability to think beyond what we already know.

The idea of Ephemeral allows us to break off from the rigidity of time in modern lifestyles, bringing us closer to nature’s way of telling time. True essence of time can be felt in its absence after its presence.

My design aims to capture the essence of time using found objects to let viewers experience time in a subconscious way.

Chia Xing has always been fascinated by natural phenomena and sensitive to human’s perception of Mother Nature. She observes and listens to the way humans interpret these things. As an artist, she aims to tap on their subconscious mind by coming up with concepts to address different themes and raise people’s awareness on issues that are usually taken for granted. Topics may sometimes be fun, sometimes heavy, sometimes personal, but they definitely aim to inspire future thinkers. Chia Xing believes that conceptual designs fill the future with possibilities, which are manifested from impossibilities. Thus, to each of its own way of being inspiring.
