OverSight

As technology progresses, digital devices have become part of our daily routine. We have grown reliant on our mobile devices for various services, harnessing the web to learn and grow. However, when websites are not built with accessibility in mind, large parts of the web and by extension, mobile applications are rendered inaccessible to those who cannot use it the way we assume everybody does.

The digital divide between technology and members in the Visually Impaired community is especially distinct in Singapore, as accessibility practices are not widely adopted due to the lack of proper legislation on enforcing digital accessibility.

OverSight is a design intervention in the form of a design toolkit for digital product designers. It aims to shift perceptions of designers on the topic and at the same time equip them with practical skills to encourage greater adoption of inclusive practices.
