Four Seasons
Project Description
This project is a series of four modern rice paper table lamps infused with traditional Chinese art (painting, calligraphy and seal-carving).
The lamps’ abstract bird forms represent bird in “flower and bird” painting category in Chinese painting. Four seasons is also depicted as a life cycle in my project. Each season is represented by a bird, from birth to death, representing the impermanence of life.
Ink and wash Chinese paintings of the four gentlemen plants are depicted on the lamps. Calligraphy words of the seasons and seal-carvings of the four gentlemen plants are also included on the lamps.
