Project Description

The plus-size fashion market in Singapore is underserved. Plus-sized clothes that break conventional plus-sized designs are hard to come by. Existing ones, at times, lack taste and class. Using Islamic Art elements, ‘Embrace’ strives to inspire interest in contemporary designs and patterns that can be appropriated into garments, producing exciting, charming and fun clothing.

Through this project, I hope to encourage fellow plus-sized ladies to dress comfortably and fashionably, and at the same time enhance their confidence.

Syairah’s interest in fine arts sees her dabbling with mostly paint, ink, pencil and printmaking to create her artworks. She loves to observe and create patterns that are intricate and eye-catching. All her original works are hand-drawn or hand-painted as she believes that the intimate connection between the artwork and the artist is the most essential ingredient in creating a meaningful piece. She is also always seeking for opportunities to step out of her comfort zone to explore new boundaries in the art scene.
