Visual Communication – Yip Hon Long Benji

Project Description

Living/Leaving seeks to convey the emotional experiences of a caregiver following the death of a loved one. Drawing from my personal experiences, thoughts, emotions and memories, I explore the tension between the living and the leaving, absence and presence that persist following the passing of my father. The project draws out the complex and at times conflicting emotions encountered in human relationships, family ties and letting go.

About

Painting has always been Benji’s first love. He vividly remembers how he hyperventilated when he saw Jacques-Louis David’s Oath of the Horatii up-close. It was simply love at first sight. Benji enjoys analysing art pieces and engaging in intelligent discussions about them. As an artist, Benji explores various mediums to express his ideas and disposition.

Also, Benji believes that a nice bowl of Bak Chor Mee can heal the world, and make it a better place for you (and for him) and the entire human race.
