The Dreamer
Project Genre: Video Installation with Prints
Project Description: Dreams and daydreams in particular are considered fairly useless mind activity by many psychologists. However, these dreams have the capacity to overcome the constraints of the present and travel distances and epochs in our minds, in which this bank of self-generated imagery, fantasies, memories and inner monologue reside. This project served as a purpose for both the dreamers and the artist to have an unspoken connection via this medium of daydreaming. It is to remind us to constantly devote time for self-generated thought and instead of focusing our mental resources on the concrete, physical and immediate which foster a more superficial self. The artist instead wanted to create an environment void of social distractions to indulge in the simple art of daydreaming to evoke more personal meaning to daily life.
