Folk Fare: The Singaporean Family Dining Experience
Project Genre: Publication and Installation
Project Description: Commensality is said to have the power of connecting people and building relationships. The act of eating together as a family not only brings together the members of the family at the physical dining table, but it also provides opportunities for family interaction and communication creating an everyday ritual that encourages family bonding. Through interviewing and observing 4 Singaporean families, Folk Fare aims to investigate family dynamics through unveiling visual narratives of family commensality in the hope of getting Singaporeans to reflect upon the importance of family meals.
